Hotel Review

The Hilton Miraflores, Lima

Peru

  • Location - Avenida La Paz 1099, Lima, Peru
  • Quality - Excellent
  • Service - Great. Almost all the staff spoke English
  • Highlight - The excellent lunches in the Executive Floor Lounge
  • Bedding and bathrooms - Fantastic
  • Would I recommend this hotel - Absolutely. We stayed in a suite but the rooms looked pretty good too.
  • My tip - Stay in a suite or on the Executive Floor so you get access to the Executive Lounge with its stunning (free) breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and light suppers. Not a place to stay if you are watching your waistline.

David and I stay at a lot of Hilton Hotels and this was one of the best. Our suite was large, modern and luxurious. Everything felt recently renovated. The front desk staff were helpful and courteous. Ruben the doorman is a real gem. I think we made an impression on him because we hired a car for a couple of days - not something most tourists do. Each time we passed through the hotel entrance he went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed.

About the only downside of the Miraflores Hilton is its location.  Miraflores is an attractive, up-market area south of the city centre but it is not well-located either for exploring downtown or for getting to and from the airport.  The airport is about half an hour away by taxi if you get a good run. If the traffic is bad, it can take triple that time. The cab ride into the city centre is slightly quicker.

Location is also one of the best things about the hotel. In Miraflores safety is not an issue. We spent many hours exploring the neighbourhood and felt safe the whole time. The nearby cliff top path El Malecón is great for a long walk to shake off the jet lag.
Even if you are just making a quick stop in Lima on your way to Machu Picchu there is a fair chance you will end up in Miraflores. All the big hotels seem to be situated there.
